A residential new build in South West London

Located on what was once a rear garden and parking lot, Foley House is a four bedroom, three bath new build in South West London. The timber clad home is an exploration of materials and light; negative space and volume.

From the outset, this under-utilised site offered up amazing potential to create a unique dwelling; but brought with it a complex planning history to be navigated. 

Through the design process, we explored a range of potential layout options, settling for a unique set up in which the living spaces were placed in the private basement level with direct access to the private courtyard, free from overlooking properties. The bedrooms were then spread out over the upper two floors.

Benefiting from amazing natural light, this layout allowed for a generous open planned kitchen / living / dining space with expansive sliding doors, which provide a seamless connection to the outdoor living space.

The soft timber facade was designed to age gracefully with the building and provides a unique warmth that is both striking and natural, allowing the building to sit comfortably alongside its neighbours.
